Each year we search for inspirational volunteers and open nominations for the Dudley Volunteer Awards, an annual celebration that sees some of the borough’s best loved volunteer stars receive special thanks and recognition.
We seek nominations for people who make a difference through for example community action, children and families, health and wellbeing, sport, the environment, community safety, arts and heritage, plus businesses supporting local communities. Once again two special awards will be presented to a young volunteer of the year, for a star volunteer under the age of 25 and a special award for long service is presented in memory of former Dudley CVS Chair Gordon Lindsay. Individuals or groups can be put forward as long as their volunteering was unpaid activity.
The nominations are considered by a panel of top borough officials and decision makers, and selected volunteers are invited to a gala event in Brierley Hill in October, where they are officially thanked and presented with unique mementos designed by Stourbridge based Glasshouse College students.
Eileen Fielding from Dudley Volunteer Centre said,
“Many of us know people who give their time every day to make our local communities even more vibrant. Dudley Volunteer Awards is a fantastic opportunity to thank these people for the massive difference that they make and we are delighted that people who were recognised last year have joined us to call for nominations”.
