Children & Families Award

Cllr Tim Crumpton, Cabinet Lead for Children’s Services read the citation for this award.

He was proud to tell our guests about the achievements of volunteers, who help to support our borough’s younger residents. The winner of this year’s Award is an inspirational volunteer, whose passion is providing young people with opportunities to learn and grow.

Garry JamesMain Award: Gary James

His nominator said:

“Gary’s an inspiration to all the young people he comes into contact with.  He is passionate about supporting children and young people, and is a regular pioneer and fundraiser for children’s charities, especially the NSPCC.”

It’s for his passion and commitment to providing young people with opportunities to grow, that we were delighted to present you with your well-deserved Children and Families Award.

Kim HumphriesHighly Commended Award: Kim Humphries

Kim’s nominator said:

“Kim started the carer and toddler group to give mums in the area somewhere to meet and share information, as well as giving tips regarding children’s safety.  The Carer and Toddler Group provides a fun environment where children and parents can meet, and get to know one another. Additionally, Kim was part of a team who helped set up the New Hope Foodbank at Darkhouse Baptist Church. Kim has also been a leader at 1st Coseley Girls Brigade for over 20 years.  She is an inspiration to young people as she always literally goes that extra mile.”

Kim is quite clearly an inspirational volunteer, with a real passion for helping local children, young people and families.
