Gordon Lindsay Award

For many people, volunteering is a lifetime commitment to making a difference in local communities and countless volunteers across the borough have supported their groups, and organisations for many years.  The Gordon Lindsay Award is given each year in recognition of a long-term commitment to volunteering, in memory of Dudley CVS’s late Chairman.

The citation for this award was read by Viv Astling, OBE, Deputy Lieutenant.

Her nominator said:

“Heather has been in the guiding movement for many years, making her way to District Leader, District Commissioner and Camp Advisor. She made sure that no girl within one of her units ever went without.  If parents could not afford to send their children to activities or camp, Heather always made sure that fees were found and settled without any of the girls losing face. She has organised various activities over the years and has tried to instil in all of her girls, a deep sense of self-esteem, confidence, teamwork and ethical values. Heather is the most caring, devoted, inspirational person we know.”
