Young Volunteer of the Year is a very special award and is given to young people from across our borough who demonstrate a commitment to making a difference in their local communities and are positive role models to other young people. Our panel felt that two of the nominees were quite simply exceptional.

Main Award: Joshua Dudley
His nominator said:
“The Midlands Air Ambulance Service came to Josh’s rescue following a near-death collision with a car. Since his accident, he has become an advocate and dedicated fundraiser for the charity. He has appeared on television programmes to raise public awareness of the service and through sharing his poignant story, he has so far raised over £36,000. This money has been used to support the service to save countless lives. Josh is an incredible young man and outstanding role model both to young people and adults alike.”
Highly Commended Award: Steven Waugh
His nominator said:
“Stephen is a great young first aider, who loves to attend events, assisting our adult volunteers. He recently came to the aid of a member of the public, who was involved in a road traffic accident. The attending Ambulance crew praised his treatment and maturity in dealing with a difficult situation. Stephen is a role model as he holds the rank of Leader Cadet and can often be seen passing on his knowledge, and skills to younger members.”
